| | 1 | 聖靈明說、在後來的時候、必有人離棄真道、聽從那引誘人的邪靈、和鬼魔的道理。
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. | |
| | 2 | 這因為說謊之人的假冒．這等人的良心、如同被熱鐵烙慣了一般。
Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. | |
| | 3 | 他們禁止嫁娶、又禁戒食物、〔或作又叫人戒葷〕就是 神所造叫那信而明白真道的人、感謝著領受的。
They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. | |
| | 4 | 凡 神所造的物、都是好的．若感謝著領受、就沒有一樣可棄的．
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, | |
| | 5 | 都因 神的道和人的祈求、成為聖潔了。
because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. | |
| | 6 | 你若將這些事題醒弟兄們、便是基督耶穌的好執事、在真道的話語、和你向來所服從的善道上、得了教育。
If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. | |
| | 7 | 只是要棄絕那世俗的言語、和老婦荒渺的話、在敬虔上操練自己。
Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. | |
| | 8 | 操練身體、益處還少．惟獨敬虔、凡事都有益處．因有今生和來生的應許．
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. | |
| | 9 | 這話是可信的、是十分可佩服的。
This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance | |
| | 10 | 我們勞苦努力、正是為此．因我們的指望在乎永生的 神．他是萬人的救主、更是信徒的救主。
(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe. | |
| | 11 | 這些事你要吩咐人、也要教導人。
Command and teach these things. | |
| | 12 | 不可叫人小看你年輕．總要在言語、行為、愛心、信心、清潔上．都作信徒的榜樣。
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. | |
| | 13 | 你要以宣讀、勸勉、教導為念、直等到我來。
Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. | |
| | 14 | 你不要輕忽所得的恩賜、就是從前藉著豫言、在眾長老按手的時候、賜給你的。
Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. | |
| | 15 | 這些事你要殷勤去作、並要在此專心、使眾人看出你的長進來。
Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. | |
| | 16 | 你要謹慎自己和自己的教訓、要在這些事上恆心．因為這樣行、又能救自己、又能救聽你的人。
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. | |
