1 心中的谋算在乎人。舌头的应对,由于耶和华。 To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue. |
2 人一切所行的,在自己眼中看为清洁。惟有耶和华衡量人心。 All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD. |
3 你所作的,要交托耶和华,你所谋的,就必成立。 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. |
4 耶和华所造的,各适其用。就是恶人,也为祸患的日子所造。 The LORD works out everything for his own ends--even the wicked for a day of disaster. |
5 凡心里骄傲的,为耶和华所憎恶。虽然连手,他必不免受罚。 The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. |
6 因怜悯诚实,罪孽得赎。敬畏耶和华的,远离恶事。 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil. |
7 人所行的若蒙耶和华喜悦,耶和华也使他的仇敌与他和好。 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him. |
8 多有财利,行事不义,不如少有财利,行事公义。 Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. |
9 人心筹算自己的道路。惟耶和华指引他的脚步。 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. |
10 王的嘴中有神语。审判之时,他的口,必不差错。 The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth should not betray justice. |
11 公道的天平和秤,都属耶和华。囊中一切法码,都为他所定。 Honest scales and balances are from the LORD; all the weights in the bag are of his making. |
12 作恶为王所憎恶。因国位是靠公义坚立。 Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness. |
13 公义的嘴,为王所喜悦。说正直话的,为王所喜爱。 Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value a man who speaks the truth. |
14 王的震怒,如杀人的使者。但智慧人能止息王怒。 A king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will appease it. |
15 王的脸光,使人有生命。王的恩典,好像春云时雨。 When a king's face brightens, it means life; his favor is like a rain cloud in spring. |
16 得智慧胜似得金子。选聪明强如选银子。 How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver! |
17 正直人的道,是远离恶事。谨守己路的,是保全性命。 The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his way guards his life. |
18 骄傲在败坏以先,狂心在跌倒之前。 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. |
19 心里谦卑与穷乏人来往,强如将掳物与骄傲人同分。 Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. |
20 谨守训言的,必得好处。倚靠耶和华的,便为有福。 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD. |
21 心中有智慧,必称为通达人。嘴中的甜言,加增人的学问。 The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction. |
22 人有智慧就有生命的泉源。愚昧人必被愚昧惩治。 Understanding is a fountain of life to those who have it, but folly brings punishment to fools. |
23 智慧人的心,教训他的口,又使他的嘴,增长学问。 A wise man's heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction. |
24 良言如同蜂房,使心觉甘甜,使骨得医治。 Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. |
25 有一条路,人以为正,至终成为死亡之路。 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. |
26 劳力人的胃口,使他劳力,因为他的口腹催逼他。 The laborer's appetite works for him; his hunger drives him on. |
27 匪徒图谋奸恶,嘴上仿佛有烧焦的火。 A scoundrel plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire. |
28 乖僻人播散分争。传舌的离间密友。 A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends. |
29 强暴人诱惑邻舍,领他走不善之道。 A violent man entices his neighbor and leads him down a path that is not good. |
30 眼目紧合的,图谋乖僻,嘴唇紧闭的,成就邪恶。 He who winks with his eye is plotting perversity; he who purses his lips is bent on evil. |
31 白发是荣耀的冠冕。在公义的道上,必能得着。 Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life. |
32 不轻易发怒的,胜过勇士。治服己心的,强如取城。 Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. |
33 签放在怀里。定事由耶和华。 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD. |
